Cesium-137 is an isotope of Cesium, Cs, atomic no.55. it is an extremely soft material and close to liquid at room temperature. Cesium, or Caesium in IUPAC spelling, is a pale or shiny gold substance. Cesium-137 and Cesium-133 are the isotopes of Cesium used in atomic clocks. It was discovered in 1860 by Gustav Kirchhoff, using flame spectroscopy. It is classified as a hazardous material and reacts violently with water.
